Do you feel let down by your tummy? you’ve exercised all week, ate healthy all week but still your tummy is swollen and bloated and you feel meh…

A few simple changes to your diet could make all the difference.

Here I will list a few of the things that have helped me to beat the bloat.

SALT.. Salt retains water in our body, which could lead to things like High Blood Pressure. If you add salt to your cooking you do not need to add salt to your meal once it is plated up. Salt is high in prepacked foods so be sure to look for the sodium content on food labels. Adults should eat no more than 6g of salt a day (2.4g sodium) – that’s around 1 teaspoon.

Overeating… We are all guilty of overeating, those last few mouthfuls are too good to leave behind.

There are people with less food than us, so we should be grateful for the food we have and eat it all.

But it was made for me, it would be rude to leave food on the plate..

There will always be an excuse that sounds good to us… But not stopping when we are full will lead to a really uncomfortable/painful tummy.

Your tummy is only about the size of a fist, so overeating will stretch it and cause you pain and bloating… So simply STOP eating when you are full….

Fizzy Water/Pop/Soda... I am right there at the top of queue I absolutely love my fizzy pop Im a Pepsi Max Addict, I prefer ‘diet’ drinks for there taste I don’t drink a ‘diet’ soda because I think it’s better for me, which technically it is as it does not have the sugar in that regular pop does, but not good for gas.

Tricks I have tried to help beat the bloat and pain that comes with fizzy pop, is to drink it fast so that I expel the air from either the north or south!!! so I don’t retain the gas, but I have since found out that it doesn’t expel all of the gas as some of it staying in your intestine until you expel it, therefore causing a build up of gas in your tummy causing it to swell and bloat. So please don’t drink it fast.

Eating to fast…The faster you eat, the more air you swallow, hence making you feel bloated and uncomfortable, it takes 20 mins for your stomach to tell your brain it is full, so even though your bloated you will keep eating, hence eating more food than is needed as you will blame the bloatedness on the type of food you are eating, which in turn will make you gain weight.

Certain Foods… There are far too many to mention and whether it is raw or cooked foods, for me some green leafy veggies are a nightmare, and pasta, rice, bread and potatoes are a really bad nightmare, so I have these as a treat with the carbs I swell within a few minutes of eating them, as there are so many foods, it will be best to do a trial and error, if you have some suspects that maybe causing your bloating, try eating them alone both raw if possible and cooked and make a note of how you feel after eating them, although a long and tiresome way it’s a great way to weed out the guilty party.

Chewing Gum…Stop chewing gum, all your doing is swallowing air hence filling up your tummy with excess gas that you really don’t need. For me personally I stopped chewing gum as I found it made me feel really hungry whereas some people like to chew it to take there mind off eating food.

Water…Sip your water during meal times as glugging it down with make you feel fuller and bloated, hence 30 minutes later your hungry again and therefore will eat more food which in turn will make you put on weight.

3 Meals A day or More?… I judge this day by day as I am now somewhat intune with my body and also whether I am going to eat any foods that don’t like me.

If 3 big meals a day is to much for your tummy to handle, think about splitting them into 4 or 6 smaller meals, you can still eat a meal at family times with your family just split your meal into 2 so you can have half later.

There are so many more ideas out there on the wonderweb that you can find the help and advice to beat the bloat, but for me this is just a few things that I do to help beat the bloat.

If you dont think your swollen tummy is caused through foods please seek medical advice immediatly.
